This 55yrs Gentleman came to our hospital with a right hip fracture from Gulbarga. He was advised Total hip Replacement at another hospital on his initial consultation. We counselled the patient and his attenders for osteosynthesis (fixation) of fracture. This fracture can be dealt in two ways:
Can be fixed in good anatomical position with patient retaining his own joint
A total hip joint replacement.
The course of treatment and probable outcome with both the procedures were explained in detailed by us to the patient. Although initially, the patient was apprehensive with the option of fixation he confided on us and agreed to proceed with fixation. Screw fixation was done. Now it’s 5months and the patient is doing all normal activities without the need to sacrifice the native joint.
